Every cleaning company has the same Tuesday. A cleaner calls out at six. The client's office opens at eight. The owner starts texting the group chat, calling in favors, and either shows up to clean it himself or puts the account at risk. We have done that dance at Bluewave more times than we would like to admit. This is the story of what we built to stop doing it, and how it works if you run a cleaning company or clean for a living.
The problem is not the wage, it is the morning
A call-out does not cost you a few extra dollars an hour. It costs the owner's morning, a crew pulled off another site, and the trust of a client who noticed the lobby was not done. The usual fixes are a group text ("anyone free today?") that goes silent, a staffing agency that marks up the rate and assigns whoever is available, or an overworked team member taking a double. None of these are fast, and none of them are predictable.
What ExtraPro does in three steps
ExtraPro is an overflow network for cleaning companies. It is Bluewave-built, and it runs like this:
- Post the job at your price. Pick the service, the hours, how many cleaners you need, and your hourly or flat price. A fill outlook shows how fast a job like that usually fills in your area. Posting takes about a minute.
- Offers go out in waves of three. The nearest qualified professionals get the offer by text: the pay for the job, the hours, the service type, and the approximate area. Not the exact address, not yet.
- The first accept confirms your crew. You get a text the moment someone accepts. The exact address unlocks for the professional on job day. They check in when they arrive and check out when they are done, and those timestamps close the job.
There is no group chat, no haggling, and no favors. One job, one invoice. You pay the price you set; ExtraPro's service fee comes out of that price, not on top of it.
Two minutes, both sides: a company posts a job and a professional accepts it. Recorded on the app with demo data; names, companies and numbers are fictional. Spanish and Portuguese versions are on extrapro.app/how.
What the professional sees
If you clean for a living, the app is built around one rule: you see the pay before you say yes. Offers match your availability and your travel radius. Each one shows the pay for the job, the hours, the service, and the neighborhood on a map. Accept, and the job is yours. Decline, and nothing happens to you. On job day you check in from the site and check out when you finish. ExtraPro keeps a service fee on each job; the rest is yours, paid by direct deposit after the job closes. Vetting happens once, with an ID and a tax form, and the app works in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
Why a cleaning company built this instead of a software company
Because we are the customer. Bluewave manages janitorial and residential work across New York, Massachusetts, and South Florida, and the coverage problem shows up in every one of those markets. We wanted a tool where the company sets the price, the professional sees it up front, and nobody has to dispatch by hand at six in the morning. We built ExtraPro for our own call-outs first, and we are opening it to other cleaning companies and to independent professionals who want work on their own terms.
What it is not
ExtraPro is not a staffing agency and it does not replace your core crew. It is for the gaps: call-outs, overflow weeks, turnover days, and project surges when you need extra hands for a few hours and do not want to lose the account finding them.
Two ways in. Cleaning companies post a first job at extrapro.app. Cleaning professionals apply in about five minutes at extrapro.app/apply. Questions about either side: contact@bluewavecleaning.net.
Extra hands, fully managed.
